Clients’ films, books
and ministries
make news and win awards
With
topics as varied and diverse as HIV, sex trafficking, the nonviolence movement in
the Middle East and a new Bible translation, The B & B Media Group has once
again represented headline-grabbing and award-winning projects. Recent top placements
secured for clients in the national media include the Huffington Post, CNN
Belief Blog, FOX News, Huckabee, Fox & Friends, Time, USA Today, CBS Evening
News, Guideposts, HLN Joy Baher, CNN John King USA, HLN Dr. Drew, CBN 700 Club,
Life Today, TBN and many others.
Delivering the
Message
TBBMG is also conducting
publicity for another fantastic new Bible release—the Zonderkidz line from
Zondervan Publishing. The NIV Boys Bible and NIV Faithgirlz
were written to assist in the spiritual development of tween boys and girls
(ages 9 to 12). These campaigns will
consist of radio interviews and giveaways, along with a strong online and blog
effort.
Blogging and
Booking

Two
TBBMG publicity clients received 2011 INSPYs, prestigious awards created by
bloggers to highlight the best in literature that grapples with expressions of
the Christian faith. Passport
Through Darkness: A True Story of Danger and Second Chances by
Kimberly L. Smith (David C. Cook, January 2011) was recognized in this year’s
Creative Nonfiction category. Bo Caldwell took the honors in the General
Fiction category for City of Tranquil
Light (Henry Holt, September 2010).
“Because
blogging is one of the most influential forms of new media, our media
specialists maintain relationships with an ever-growing network of bloggers,”
says Tina Jacobson, president of TBBMG. “It is gratifying to see the titles we
believe in receive such high praise from the blogosphere.”

The B & B Media Group is also managing the
publicity campaigns for Thomas Nelson fiction authors Neta Jackson and Beth
Wiseman. TBBMG previously launched Jackson’s Yada Yada Prayer Group series in 2003 which has since sold over a
half-million copies. Jackson’s latest release, Stand by Me, will launch
the SouledOut Sisters series in
March. Beth Wiseman’s first endeavor outside the Amish genre, Need You Now, will release in April. Through their publicity efforts, TBBMG
is supporting a special promotion from the publisher whereby eager readers will be able to purchase the first half of Need You Now in digital format (e-book)
as early as February 21 for only 99 cents. The second half of the e-book and
full e-book will then be made available for sale in early April.
Promoting Life,
Peace and Progress Through Film
TBBMG also handles the
publicity needs of ministries and filmmakers. TBBMG assisted Living Waters and Ray
Comfort as they launched 180, a
thirty-minute film on the sanctity of life. In an effort to bring an end to
abortion, 200,000 DVD copies of the film were distributed on college campuses.
Through church efforts, media interviews and social networking, in just over
three months the film was viewed over two million times.
Continuing our ongoing work for EthnoGraphic Media
(EGM), TBBMG provided publicity and public relations services for the Global
Voices of Nonviolence, a 12-day international conversation to fuel the fire of
the growing nonviolent peace movement. Hosted by EGM and the Institute for
Policy Research and Catholic Studies at The
Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington, D.C, the September event
included a screening of EGM’s groundbreaking documentary Little Town of Bethlehem and a live panel discussion. TBBMG secured
the religion editor Paul Raushenbush as moderator and assisted the panel by
providing messaging and media publicity support. Media in attendance included
editors and writers from Sojourners, Catholic News Service, Religion &
Ethics Newsweekly and others. Both the film and the discussion were streamed
online, allowing viewers across the globe to participate.
TBBMG
also took part in several
important film screenings in the fall of 2011 by both securing media attention and screening participants prior to the
events and providing messaging and media publicity on site. Little Town of Bethlehem, which explores
the nonviolent movement in the Middle East, was screened on the opening night
of the Gandhi-King Conference on Peacemaking in Memphis at the Christian
Brothers University Campus. The screening was followed by a panel discussion.
Conference attendees included activists, artists, scholars and over 1000
students and university faculty members. December
1, 2011, World AIDS Day, provided an ideal opportunity for EGM to focus the
spotlight on Miss HIV, an eye-opening documentary that
examines the fight against the stigmatization of HIV/AIDS. The Miss HIV Film Festival, organized by
Crucial Arts and supported by TBBMG, ran from December 1 to December 4 and
included showings of Miss HIV set up
by 25 partner organizations at different venues throughout New York City.
“We have worked closely with
EGM for several years now, and in that time we have seen firsthand how films
like Little Town of Bethlehem and Miss HIV get media and audiences
talking. EGM tackles the most crucial issues of our time in a way that
generates real, positive change in the hearts and minds of a young and global
audience,” says TBBMG vice president Diane Morrow.
Supporting the
Military
TBBMG
has been privileged to collaborate with several distinguished veterans
including Lt. Col. (ret.) Senator Brian Birdwell, Capt (ret.) Chris Plekenpol
and General (ret.) Hal Moore. The latest client to join this impressive list is
B.C. Fleming, an author, speaker and Army veteran who survived two disastrous
explosions while serving in Afghanistan. Fleming shared ideas for supporting
the troops during the holidays on the December 23 edition of Fox News Online
which was secured by TBBMG who also manages Fleming’s media placements and
speaking engagements.
“It
is always an honor when a veteran entrusts us with his or her story, especially
when that story is shared with the goal of helping others,” Jacobson says.
“B.C. Fleming is a true American hero, one whose influence we sincerely hope to
expand.”
Embracing
a Fresh New Year
Among responsibilities
entrusted to the Agency, TBBMG coordinated all pre-show publicity leading up to
ICRS and managed media on site. TBBMG also recruited media to attend, provided
oversight for media registration, organized press conferences, compiled media
and author listings and provided staffing for the media room. ICRS saw a
substantial increase in media attending the event as well as an overall
increase in attendance. TBBMG also brought together representatives of
publishers and Bible websites for a press conference and panel discussion
discussing Bible translations and the digital age.
TBBMG
is looking forward to an exciting 2012 with more award-winning clients.
